The convention officially opens when Opening Ceremonies begin on Friday. Usually about 5pm. The registration desk will open at some point between 2pm and 5pm depending on how things go.

If you are pre-registered this shouldn't take much time. I think the average wait time during rushes is about 20-30 minutes.
If you did not pre-register the wait can be considerably longer depending on which day you choose to go and purchase your badge.

The registration desk will reopen on Saturday at 9 or 10am. (I'll come back with the official time because I'm currently drawing a blank.)

well than, that is perfect!  i am realy glad that i had mommy pre-register for us.  YAY!  my mom was figuring that we would leave the house at 8 a clock, so that fits wonderfully into the schedule.  the official time will indeed be helpfull.

To modify something of what theshadow said, while the registration desk will be open by 2:00 PM on Friday for sure, the registration folks generally try to get it set up and running as early as possible on Friday. Sometimes it opens closer to noon than 2:00. We make no promises that it'll be open before 2:00, but it's certainly possible.

I always arrive at least at 9 am at the hotel, check in and then get in line at 11:00 am, I don't like waiting and since I have to be in the hotel room making sure all the cosplay stuff is in order. I always tell my friends to arrive at least at the hotel at 8:30 am, just to be on the safe side. :)

Pretty much as early as you'd like, I think, within reason. (I.e. 8:00 AM, not 5:00 AM.)

I will have to remind my roommates this year, usually, we arrive a day before the convention, I just remembered that we have cars this time, which will make storing props easier, lol. Anyway thanks for reminding me.

I think I know the answer to this question already, but I figured I'd ask so that 25 dollars doesn't go to waste. A former friend of mine was all paid off and pre-reged for the con but she decided aburptly that she didn't like me and the rest of my cosplay group and isn't ever going to attend the con again. Now, I have a friend (daisuke91 here on the forums) that isn't pre-reged yet and she was wondering if we could just use the extra badge that our former friend will not be using. I have the purple slip and everything to pick up the bages when we arrive...(I have a feeling I know the answer already but again, I just thought I'd ask...)

That should be fine. PM me the badge name given for the person who won't be attending, as well as the badge name for the new person. I'll make sure it all gets sorted out.

umm, i dont think i got the purple slip Nagi got, is that like part of the mail in thing?  i pre- reged online, and we got the email from paypal that every thing was paid, of course now we dont have it, the email i mean, so is there any thing else other than an ID to pick up the badge??  cause i really didnt hear about any of this other stuff, so i am just trying to make sure every thing is in order for when we do go up to pick up badges... O.o

We don't mail anything to anyone. I don't know what this "purple slip" is. If you got an e-mail, that means your registration was confirmed. All you need to do at this point is bring a photo ID with you to pick up your badge, and know the name you requested for your badge. Same goes for anyone else you registered at the same time (though you don't all have to pick up your badges at the same time).

edit: sorry, misread the thread title

I am not a fan of the "MUST HAVE MY BADGES NAO" bum rush. I feel that NDK as a whole offers enough stuff that doesn't require a badge to hold me over til early evening on Friday, when I can causally stroll up to registration and be all like, "yo."

If generation of con-goer blood pulses through your veins and you experience a hunger for dealer room swag that cannot possibly be satiated, arriving early would be a terrific idea.

the purple slip is nothing more then a pre-reg receipt it's just proof that you pre-reged at last year's con
