« on: April 18, 2009, 02:25:38 pm »
I really would like a new place that sells games. (offline) The only pleaces around me will be friends to your face. but when you need help with a problem ( I.E game does not work or they bait and switch)
So no best buy game stop or game crazy. where do I have left? and if you want to hear what they have done just PM me.,
Wow! saying that makes me sound almost human!

Try a locally-owned and -operated store. For instance, Game Force is a local franchise and though I've only been to two (Longmont, mostly, and Boulder), I've had good experiences there. They typically care about keeping customers happy to keep their long-term business.

It's a franchise operation, though, so each one is different from the others; if you have a couple of them near you and you don't like one of them, try the other.

Unfortunately many of the Game Force's have closed down here, I think the only stores still open are the Longmont and Boulder branches...

But I do like Buy Back games they have always treated me well.

If you want a good experience with support of games and what not, I would say go to stores like Target, where they have a set in stone return policy. If the game really doesn't work, they'll replace it for you.

When it comes to bait and switch problems, the only thing I can say is be informed. Research the games you want, know the games you definitely don't want and don't let clerks "sell" you on stuff you don't want/need.

Honestly, garage sales are really good places for games.  Sometimes, a child has moved on to college and left behind the games they "grew out of".  You can find some gems.

If your system breaks, don't go to buy backs. I had a bad experience with my PS2 thanks to that. I go to pawn shops for my games. Sometimes I go to gamestop or Kmart.

Also, Game Force Boulder is the only place I know of to get imported games.  :o

I've been looking at getting more of mine from Amazon Marketplace. I don't like what GameStop does to people and Game Force Denver is closed.

game stop did a bait and switch with me and thats why they are out in my book.

They were offering a new copy of SMT Digital devil saga for 34.99

I called made sure that was what it was. got a "sealed" copy of it. got home found it was used and did not have any of the extras it came with. I am talking with their DM trying to get a new copy of the game but so far its all talk.

GameStop is currently being investigated by the FTC because they have been allowing employees to borrow new games, then selling the games as new:

I recommend Game On! (www.gameondenver.com). They have good customer service and are also a LAN center. They're relatively new, and while they're working on building up their stock, they have a good selection so far already.

We ran across a store called "Black Knight Games" at the NVGA Supercon. Nice guys, carried board and video games. Even had a working Atari 2600 running at the convention. They're out in Conifer.

Huh, there was a Game Force that my friends worked at in Englewood, but that was turned into a a Game Stop, though the guys who are still my friends work there. Whenever I had a problem with a system, they always demanded I bring in the system or the game and let them look at it. These guys are real professional gamers and don't like it when someone gets ripped off.

Here's the policy with my friends at this particular store, "if you have a problem with a game, bring it in, we'll help you out." At least I think that is still their policy. I hope that helps you.

Haha, I ran a gaming center in Fort Collins called Game On. It is now completely defunct and it looks like those guys re-registered the name for business. GO is okay, it's definitely got that "we're 20-something and we're trying to run a business but also living in the back" feel. Hopefully the market for a LAN center keeps bringing them business, I remember how much it cost to keep my store updated with the latest software and hardware; it's not a forgiving business model.

GameStop is essentially a pawn shop. I'd buy from a small independent shop if it weren't for the increased prices, and since I already think games are overpriced when the drop... well, you get the idea.

BestBuy and Target are fine for me.

I used to work for GameStop and can verify this is true.   Through I think it depended on the store and how the store manager was.

Game Trader in Brighton.

The last time I went up to Brighton, about a week ago, I didnt see the Game Trader logo anymore.   Not sure if they moved or no longer in business.

Then I whole heartedly recommend them.  Lots of selection of games and table top games.   Also a good selection of Anime and Anime related items.   They have been a dealer at NDK for a couple years now.
