From what I have heard, the game takes place in 15th century Venice, Italy with an Italian protagonist named Ezio (his name also means "eagle", like Altair).  Rumor has it that you will be able to swim and have the use of gunpowder.  The game is supposedly coming out sometime in 2010.

The first one was nothing short of amazing.  I'd be intrigued to see the next one.

I beg to differ.    The first one looked amazing and the huge maps where awesome.    The amount of repeated missions though was really annoying.  So much so I haven't finished it.

You know, you probably have the keener perspective than I to, TBQH.  I only watched people play the very beginning and that impressed me.  But I never saw someone get much further and I never actually played myself, so who knows...

I loved the first one, only because to me, the combat engine was so fluid that it never got old.
I still play it now just to release stress.

From what I have heard, the game takes place in 15th century Venice, Italy with an Italian protagonist named Ezio (his name also means "eagle", like Altair).  Rumor has it that you will be able to swim and have the use of gunpowder.  The game is supposedly coming out sometime in 2010.

15th century looks pretty accurate given the artwork we were shown in the teaser trailer.
And I read on gamesradar that it is scheduled for last quarter of this year, which means anywhere between December through March of 2010. I don't know how correct that is however.

I know that was one of the main complants from users.   I'm sure that will be corrected.   They tried to correct it in the pc release but people still were not happy with it

With so much knowledge in the arts of stealth murder, who has the mental store for swimming as well?

There's actually lots of adults who never learn to swim.  Some of them are probably assassins.

Game Informer has 10 pages of information on Assassin's Creed.

Character's name is Ezio Auditore de Firenze.
He's of noble blood and the descendant of Altair from the first game.
The year is 1476 in Florence, Italy. Set 300 years after Altair...
Apparently, you're even close buddies with Leonardo da Vinci. XD

It looks downright sexy. O_O

Also here are some more pics for ya.

Looks incredibly familiar to me.

These are pictures are from a webcam challenge, where you had to show your webcam a picture of a mysterious symbol.

Here is what they show you if you do:

would be cool if they got more into the whole conspiracy thing like they hinted at at the end of the game. the medicis were rumoured to be among many secret societies, and what have you.

I heard awhile ago that it was going to be a trilogy. But then again that source also told me that all three games would involve the same main character, and clearly that is not the case.

As far as the Medici family goes, I would definatly bet that they are involved in the plot somehow. I think they are based in Florence if memory serves, but they were very important to the whole of Europe.
When I first learned that the game would be set in 15th century Italy the first thing that came to mind was Borgia.
But apparently the set year is 1476 which means that the Borgia family will probably not be mentioned.
That also means that Machiavelli probably wont be involved either, bummer.

They have confirmed that Leonardo da Vinci will be a contactable character.

Technically, the main character is the guy being experimented on (or whatever it is that they're doing), and being as Altair was his direct decendant, and this new character is a direct relative of Altair, chances are the main character IS the same. :P
