Reserve space in our new Photoshoot/Meetup Room!

We're making a variety of new changes this year to improve traffic flow and hopefully save you some time in line. Here's one of the biggest changes: introducing our new photoshoot/meetups room!

To guarantee a spot in the room for your group, you must book it ahead of time by contacting the NDK Events staff at events@ndkdenver.org. All spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are good for one hour. We'll post a schedule of those times on the NDK forums as times fill up, so you can see what's still available and which group has already reserved a time.

The room will be available from 2PM-10PM on Friday, 10AM-10PM on Saturday and 10AM-5PM on Sunday. We also plan to have a backdrop in the room for the photoshoots to hopefully enhance the pictures!

If you would like to book the room for a photoshoot or meetup, reservations will open on Monday at Noon MST.

(This is the same room used last year for the Lolita Boutique, which is moving to an all-new location inside the hotel that's never been used by NDK before!)

I'm not sure which room this was, as I did not go to the Lolita Boutique. How big is it?

I know some photo group meet ups have a TON of people and it would be nice to know how many this room can hold (for both cosplayers and photographers).

Is there an option to reserve a room for less than an hour? I'm just thinking that an hour will be a LOT of wasted time for some smaller groups.

You can reserve up to an hour, sorry to be unclear. :) And should slots not be filled ahead of time, anyone can use the room during con.

The room holds about 50-60 people. This is intended to replace the old photoshoot area behind Registration (more on that later), to try and help with traffic flow in the jam-packed hallways.

I have to admit this idea makes me feel a little uneasy. How large is the room? Can it encompass say 50 - 100 cosplayers for large groups? Will photographers be able to get decent angels and have ample room for photos? Also i don't think an hour is long enough for a photo shoot, especially a large one. My marvel vs capcom/darkstalker photo shoot last almost an hour and a half due to all the different cosplayers that attend it, i feel like we would have to rush the photo shoot. Is it okay if we stay over an hour since it is going to be later at night, after 8:pm? also where is this room located? Will it be easy for cosplayers to find? Will photo shoots reserved in the room still be posted on the main photo shoot listing board so other cosplayers and photographers will know about it? I'm worried the room may get too over crowded or hot since we'll no longer be in an open area but contained in a room. I also find that stumbling upon photo shoots is half the fun at a convention and can get some really interesting candid shots and such. I just hope that it supplies decent background and room not to mention that allows for enough time to actually enjoy the photo shoot instead of being forced to rush it along.

I can answer some of these questions/concerns.

The room is Lupine, its in the back hallway of rooms to the left of Main events if you are standing in the atrium looking toward main events. For a map of the hotel rooms you can go here:  http://www.marriott.com/hotels/event-planning/floor-plans/dentc-denver-marriott-tech-center/

As for how many people you can fit, the higest number I found (40) is for theater style seating. You could probably fit a little more plus photographers without chairs in the way but you cannot fit 100.

You can always request more than a 1 hour slot if you think you'll need more than 1 hour.

Photoshoots in the room will still be posted in the official photoshoot schedule.

Those are the only answers I can provide, I know they're working on getting some backdrops but I haven't heard anything about what they look like yet.

Nope it doesn't cost a thing. Yes you do need to bring a photographer, while random photographers may wander in to take photos its not a gaurentee that one will be there unless you ask someone you know.

This room is open to the public so any photoshoots that take place here must also be open to the public.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
