Recommend to me some Xbox 360 games...

I've got a few client checks coming in next week and I've decided to (finally) pick up an Xbox 360. (I'm getting the Pro version. An extra $100 for an extra 60GB, an HDMI cable, and black? No, thanks.) Recommend some games for me...

I'm open to suggestions for both Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, so long as they're on the backwards-compatibility list. Assume that if it's available for either platform I haven't played it.

I'm not too picky about the game types overall, but I don't play sports games. Otherwise, pretty much anything goes. Action, adventure, shooter, arcade, etc. Mostly, though, I'm looking for *compelling* games.

So... what do you recommend?

Id say Eternal Sonata, Infinite UnDiscovery, Assassins Creed, Lost Planet is fun but its fairly simple, and if they've got the Resident Evil 4 go for it

They don't have the RE4...Infinite Undiscovery should be good though. I'd rather play the others on the PS3. Also, Star Ocean: The Last Hope when it decides to come out.

I dont see Greg as a big FPS guy.   I would recommend Assassins Creed, Bioshock (even though its a FPS), GTA:4 (of course) and Fable 2.  Also I recommend some XBLA Games (games that are downloaded to the hard drive) Castle Crashers and Braid.

The only real problem with the 360 is you can't multiplayer locally on most games, don't know if that was your goal with your clients coming in, maybe that's just the extra moolah for you to buy the system though.

I've really been enjoying Too Human, but I love just wading in amongst a hoard of low level mooks and laying them to waste.

Also I just picked up Fallout 3, I don't know if you liked oblivion but this is very similar. FPRPG, and the landscapes are just gorgeous.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I'm seeing a lot that other people have recommended as well, so those are definitely ones I'll be checking out. (Gamefly has been recommended, so I'll be trying most or all of these games over time.)

But don't stop recommending. There's some good stuff here.

Heh. You think I have clients over to my apartment? No, I usually go to their office or meet at a neutral location. But most of the work I do is for people I've never even met in person. I just meet the clients online.

I'll be playing most of these games primarily in single-player mode. I tend to be a solitary gamer. When I do want to do multi-player, it'll either be with maybe one other person in the room, or occasionally online. (I'll be getting an Xbox Live Gold subscription for various reasons--read: Netflix streaming--so I can take full advantage of what they've got.)

If you do enjoy FPS' then Bioshock is a great one. I'm really enjoying Lost Planet as well, though that's a 3rd person shooter as opposed to the first person.

What other genre's do you enjoy?

I would definitely recommend Orange Box - mainly for Portal.  It's not a long game, but it's definitely absorbing and makes you use your brain to solve problems!  And the ending theme is the best EVAR!!!

If you're in the mood for blowing up stuff, I'd recommend Crackdown just to see bodies flying through the air (especially your own)

I will also recommend Overlord.  I love minions!

Definitely second the Crackdown recommendation.

And there are several games that do local LAN games, if you're interested. Others you can only do on XBL, though you can also grab several games off there as well. I'm addicted to Worms, myself.

Well, I guess I should mention that I own The Orange Box on PC, so I won't be picking that one up on the 360.

You could still pick up "Portal: Still Alive" from the XBL marketplace. It has the same main game but it has 14 additional puzzles and different challenges that are actually really fun. Challenges like, least amount of footsteps, fastest time, lowest amount of portals.

Assassin's creed is a must! It has alot of playability also.
Eldar Scrolls Oblivion! So addictive and there is no way you could ever finish everything.
Gears of War is awesome!
Gears of War 2 comes out today!
Braid (XboxLive download) kind of old school but challenging and fun.
Soul Calibur 4 corny but great fun

Oh, cool. I didn't realize that Lumines was on XBLA. I played that some on the PSP and it was really enjoyable. I'll definitely be grabbing that.

So on the down side, I'm still waiting on the last client check before I pick up the 360. On the up side, I'm expecting the check either tomorrow or Monday. So I should have my 360 early next week.
