What's Anime Wasabi?
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

What's Anime Wasabi?

Wasabi is the other Colorado Con. It's newer than NDK though, this is only the second year it's going on.

i was a lil frustrated that i didnt make the con last year. Ill make a better effort to make this next one.

I find that the locale of this one being right off Hampden is a lil villanous seeing as NDk Con is held right down the way.  Its like a geeky standoff :P

Geeky Stand-Off? You should have been there when the NDK Promoters were marching around handing out flyers.
I felt kind of bad for AW's staff and organizers. It was kind of like going to a friend's party in their brand new house and letting all the other guests know that your house is "SOOO much cooler and like, stuff".

Since the first NDK I went to was at the Holiday Inn, it was weird to me to see another con in its place, but it was kind of a nostalgic rush to be back there in cosplay.

Either way, I can't wait to go to Anime Wasabi next year, I just think it might be fun again. I did have fun at it and seeing the Royal Dead for the first time was great. I would love to see what AW has planned for 2009, please don't be mad at me for how much I love to try new things, this is why I go to out of state cons and try and have fun.

NDK tries to promote at anything anime like conventions, movie relases, store parties, cultural festivities. Gets the word out for people who don't know about us. And in case you're wondering, yes, we have run into many people who don't know about NDK.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

I'm afraid I can back that up. I've had people show up the day after the con saying "There's an anime con in Denver?" when I explain why our store isn't completely set back up again.

I'm also posting this from Anime Nebraskon, where at least 2, if not more, conventions are promoting themselves at this convention. It's a standard practice.

I was one of those people the first time I went to your store!

Anyway, yes NDK did advertise at AW.  I'm sure if the staff had a problem with that, they would have told us to stop, whether that happened or not, I don't know, I wasn't one of the ones handing out flyers, I was one of the ones dead tired.  (I don't like that hotel btw, after being on my feet all day with a bad knee, I was exhausted and my knee hurt like hell, I sat down and apparently it was past the time we were allowed to sit in the lobby)

I can also help to identify bootlegs, if you have a questionable item, send me a message and some pictures if you can and I'll get back to you when I can.

I'm definetely going to wasabi for Saturday and Sunday (Already got my reservations). Just announced, Anime wasabi no longer goes by that name its now...Animeland Wasabi so no one confuses the AW from Wasabi Anime. So the new shorter way is ALW.

Have you seen their new web site?

http://www.animewasabi.com/

I dare you not to do at least one of these things: laugh, cry, or get sick.

I'm all for some friendly competition when it comes to the convention and I don't want to say anything bad about AW... but wow... that's something else.

*shrug* Seen far worse. At least it's not a fullscreen graphic that you have to click on in order to get to the website. Or worse, some sort of Flash-heavy site that becomes impossible to navigate due to all the effects. Of course, the worst are the ones that try to be a standard website, but fail due to screwy coding and bad organization. Oh, and BTW, all of my examples are from other anime convention websites.

A page is a page, no matter how it looks, besides mine for my personal webpage is bad enough. So I have no room to judge, i just wish they had a better artist.

To clarify a matter that came up earlier, the advertising done by NDK at AW was not a form of guerrilla marketing. The cons had a cross-promotional arrangement (between the heads of each con), which is why you also saw Anime Wasabi advertising at NDK (with an artists row table and all).
