Does anyone have any clue when AW will be coming around again?  I saw the banner advertising for next year and I've checked the site, but it still lists the dates from this year. Help?

To make sure there's no confusion, we do allow discussion about Anime Wasabi itself on our forum. If you have opinions about AW, feel free to express them. But please be civil and respectful regardless of your opinions.

What we don't permit, however, is discussion about making plans to go to AW, making plans to meet up at AW, what your cosplay plans are for AW, what new and exciting things AW has in store, etc. As Amaya helpfully pointed out, Anime Wasabi has their own forum where they'd love to have people discuss their plans for AW.

The main point, though, is that this forum is dedicated to Nan Desu Kan and while we're happy to provide a place for NDK attendees to discuss their interests, our forum is not a proxy for other cons' official forums. This policy applies to all other conventions, not just AW, lest you suspect we're discriminating against a particular con.

The latest information that I have heard is that they are still in hotel negotiations. It may or may not be at the Crown Plaza DIA (the old Holiday Inn) or it may move to a new hotel. Projected convention dates are in mid-late March. And that's the best information I've got.

I wouldn't mind getting to go hang out with all you crazy nuts again... though I doubt I'll pay for reg, unless they come with a LOT more stuff to do.

From what I understand their Executive Director is also in jail...  It really may not happen this year.

From what I was told, he's been relieved of all of his duties at Wasabi and every other convention he's been working at, so they are moving along without him.

Still, it would be nice to hear something. We already paid for a spot there, with an option for one more.

Word, last year was basically "Hangout Fest '08". The only difference being that I know that I can still enjoy it, without registration this time. The reg was a PAIN IN THE "PACK ANIMAL" anyways.

They keep pushing back the date for getting informaton out. August, September and now the last I heard they were going to know more around the end of Oct, who knows, they'll probably push it back again. But yeah hang out fest, cause it sooooo wasn't worth the $30 to get into the convention just to hang out. >.< I think the chick at the reg desk pocketed the money I gave her for the reg because for some reason their reg system let me in for $20 during the last week so Hightower told me I owed them $10. So when I went to get my badge and gave them the $10 they were like 'What's this for?' When I told them what it was for the girl stuffed it in her pocket saying she'd get it to Hightower. o.O I remember thinking, doesn't reg have a cashbox?

Gimme Anime was pretty much the only dealers worth looking at, and I mainly go to cons for the dealers room.

I'll hear nothing bad about Anime USA, either- they're good people and they were there last year.  Them & Gimme aside I don't remember much of anything worthwhile in there...

No, there were several other dealers that weren't bootlegging. It just was that at least 2 or 3 were and the other dealer's revolted. Didn't help that one dealer had a bootleg copy of Rurouni Kenshin DVDs and Media Blasters had a table right there.

They also had bootleggers in artist alley, but they didn't do anything about them.
