sailormoon, the series that saved bandai. it's bandai that owns the series, btw.
anyway, yes, bandai was very unhappy with the way ADV handled the property, and pioneer's, nee geneon, license lapsed. bandai has been so unhappy with the way the US companies have dubbed and distributed the series, that it won't likely get licensed any time in the near future.
plus, with geneon going belly up, bandai's had a real problem with US distribution. they used to use geneon to distribute all their titles here in the US and canada. they've been going through other avenues, but it still remains spotty.
further, sailormoon is O.L.D. in japan. it's a forgotten IP, really. bandai's putting all its money and time into their new gundam series, amongst others.
there's prolly less than 0 chance that stars will ever be brought to the states. it's simply a too difficult property to dub, without running into severe criticism/backlash from conservatives, religious right, etc. having lesbians was bad enough, but how do you explain sex-changing transvestites in BDSM outfits to your 5 year old?
