Elfen Lied.  No question.

That series made me think so much.  It's a great series, but it's incredibly unsettling--it shows us just how much hypocrisy there is in calling ourselves "human."

Honestly, I'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet.

Ergo Proxy has its fair share of trippy moments itself.

No, I lost touch with it, and then when the last disc came out I actually waited watching it till I watched the entire series over again, including the last disc.  It helped, but it was still an odd, enjoyable anime.

Alright, Lain definitely at the top plain and simple.  I'm actually rewatching it now as I type...still messed with the ol' noggin.  Love it though, one of my fav's.

But I'm surprised no one's posted Boogiepop Phantom, there's an anime oddity.  Perfect Blue...it's been a few years but I remember finishing watching that movie and just not knowing what the hell was going on.

Unless I missed it I'm suprised no one said Cat Soup... the first time I watched it I felt like my brain was melting out my ear, but the second time I watched it I fell in love with it. It's cute, twisted, sadistic, symbolic and if I didn't know any better I would swear it was the brain child of Salvador Dalí.

Darn pretty much all of the episodes I was going to list were already said. Though I did find the VERY end of Rah Xephon incredibly confusing and a mind trip I wasn't expecting.
