If anyone is cancelling their rooms for the con, Please Help!!
Thinker302:
To explain, I called the Marriott DTC today to ask about a room for the weekend of the con, of course. Because I have a friend who lives in Denver I was going to stay from Sept 9-15. I could have stayed with her and her Mom but my friend's Grandmother is with them also and she's gotten very sick as of lately. I respectfully declined because I didn't want them to acommodate me if she is getting worse. I can't be selfish like that.
So I called the Marriott and there are rooms available for the 9th-11th, but the weekend of the con, of course, is booked solid. I did check online first to find all rooms gone so I figured there would be a better chance by calling too. I can stay the first half, under the discount rate, but I would have to move myself over to a different hotel (Residence Inn, 2 miles away) because there's no vacancy on the days of the con.
**************
My request is this: Is there any way possible for someone who's cancelling their reservation for the weekend of the con to get ahold of me first? I would be most appreciative if you didn't mind me taking over your reservation, should you choose to cancel yours. That way, I can stay for the full week that I orginally intended. It is obviously much easier to stay at the hotel where all the events are held.
If you want to contact me, my email is: Leododie@aol.com
After exchanging emails, if you want to discuss further by way of phone, that would be alright, as well.
If any of this cannot be done, I understand, but if it can, then I would be most appreciative : ) Thank you for your time and attention to this.

There are other hotels around the area, like the Wyndham across the street from the Marriott (where everything will take place). Have you tried looking into there yet?

Yes, I heard about it through the forum. Is it across the street, like on the same road or just in the same area? The only Wyndham I can find is about 2 miles away. I'm likely going to add a rental car to my stay, lol.

Directly across the street, the Mariott is on the Southwest corner of Syracuse and Union, the Wyndham is on the Northwest corner.

I would like to add myself to the list of people to contact about a room. I thought i had made a reservation back in march (like I usually do) this turns out not to be the case. I would go across the street and get a room there but with the equipment that I have to lug around for the dance this is just not feasible. Please contact me at the email attached to this account or PM me. Thanks peeps!
