Outlaw Star anyone?
« on: July 03, 2008, 10:05:20 pm »
Is there anyone who has seen Outlaw Star?  I started collecting the anime back on VHS when it was released in the states, I never got to finish it when it came out since VHS was phased-out near the end of the series.  I finely got the DVD collection of Outlaw Star.  I did really like what the anime lead up to, it had a bunch of really good first episodes but seemed to drift from the original story and turned in to something else.  Its still a really good anime and is one of my favorites next to Cowboy Bebop.

I hear you there. I first saw outlaw star back when it had the crap edited out of it on Toonami and was hooked. A few years later i did buy the dvd set and it was better then i remembered. I know it gets lost from time to time and drags the whole plot a little far, but i loved the characters and will definitely re watch it more then once in my life.

This was a great series, I can see why people say it has that 'Cowboy Bebop' kind of feel to it- the rag-tag collection of unlikely allies that form the crew, the rough-around-the-edges hero, etc.  All in all it was a very fun watch, and an ultimately (IMO) upbeat series with a good ending.

That would be amazing if they came out with another one.
This was probably the fourth anime I found, and am quite addicted to it.
An Ice Hilda costume is actually going to come from me.

I've loved Outlaw Star ever since I saw it on Toonami so many years ago-my fav episode has to be "Hot Springs-Planet Tenrei"-it wasn't shown on tv-it's just flat out hilarious!!

My favorite was "Girls, Cats, and Spaceships!" Jim got a girlfriend, then unknowingly killed her >_>

that episode was awesome, also i always thought it was odd that when they ran it on toonami they cut out an entire episode.  i don't remember the title but i know it was the one were they all went to the hot springs planet to get caster shell. When i first saw it on toonami i was totally confused when Gene suddenly had new types of shells that were super powerful.

Gotta love Outlaw Star. Great balance of drama, comedy & action, and the characters grab your heart and mind right away.
My one complaint was that the super-romantic ending was diminished considerably by Gene's actions shortly afterward.
Bought the DVD set years ago and need to make time to watch it for a third time.   :)
