I still think that the Matrix system is about 5 times harder than it needs to be, and then they made it more difficult with technomancers. Though they are a cool idea. I still have a hard time with that term, since I can only think of the 2nd and 3rd ed technomancers which were way scary.

At least you don't need to tell your hacker characters, "Make 100 rolls and give me the results, I'll go down the list when it's time and tell you how you did," anymore.  I never found 4E Matrix to be that hard, even as a Technomancer.

No you don't have to do that, but you do have to make like 5 or 6 rolls per action if you want to be effective. It could still stand to be streamlined but I like it a lot better than 2nd :)

Lee was telling me something about a game called the Hero system...is that similar to the Matrix system?

The matrix is just the computer system in Shadowrun. It's a live persona style used in a lot of different scifi. When I used the term matrix system I was just talking about the rules involved in it.

I'm not sure of the hero system, I've heard of several. The one that sticks out the most would be from G.U.R.P.S.

The Matrix as a term for a computer system was seen as far back as 70's Doctor Who. The Time Lords had one. Tom Baker ended up mentally going into it to find information and stop an assassin. Very amusing in the post-Matrix movie world.

I think the HERO system goes with Champions, the superhero RPG?

I think I remember that episode of Dr. Who.

That was one of the other systems I was thinking of, but I love G.U.R.P.S. so that's why it came to mind first :)

Huh...Lee talks about that too...I'm watching as we are trying to rebuild the tri-stat system for a revamp of Sailor Moon RPG, I just found my character guide and RPG book

I never thought I would have to do this, but I'm going to have copyright all my photographs and stuff because Youtube and Facebook are cracking down, talk about bad news. Does anyone else know of a good archive photo site that doesn't need the pictures to be copyrighted? I'm curious because I tried to do a memorial to my deceased cat and the music I selected for the video was copyrighted and I didn't know because its Japanese. So I'm worrying that all my videos and photographs are not safe on facebook. Does anyone know any other site that I can get a free copyright for all my pictures?

Take down the originals and "watermark" them with your own logo in photoshop. As long as you can provide an original without the "watermark" then you're good in 90% of cases.
Planned cosplays for 2012:
Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater), Black Waltz 3 (Final Fantasy IX), Nappa (Dragonball Z), The Stig's Spartan cousin (Halo/Top Gear mashup)

Rippy of course they're not safe on facebook. Pretty much nothing is 100% safe on the internet. Also just about every thing you could find or use is copyrighted; being in another language doesn't exempt it, copyright is inherent in the act of creation. A lot of times sites provide a "free" copyright by their terms of service when you upload, but if you made that thing it was already yours, the site's just covering their own butt "we had the copyright notice right there on the page, it's not our fault someone stole it".

But as you found out when you tried to use music that you didn't create, it's entirely possible to use copyrighted works up until the point you get caught. Anyone could easily just breeze past any little copyright language a site has in its terms of service and use whatever until someone raises a fuss and makes the site take it down. On deviantArt for example below every picture is says that the image is copyright the owner, but that won't really stop anyone from saving and reuploading. The only thing you can do is like Ronin said, watermark your images. Smack-dab in the middle is best so that it can't be cropped or edited out except by someone with mad skills that really wants to steal your stuff. But the fact that it's uploaded gives you a bit of evidence as to who put it up first.

A lot of image hosting sites have watermark functions, and there are also online services like Picmarkr and Watermarktool. It's not terribly difficult to watermark your own images in image editing software either, look up batch processing for photoshop.
I haven't used it to upload anything myself, but Mobypicture's terms of service conditions regarding content ownership seem pretty legit. It seems like more of a celebrity/cewebrity usage service though, cross-posting to social media and the like.

Are you really worried that someone is going to steal your photos and videos though? Facebook and youtube aren't cracking down on "non-copyrighted works", they're cracking down on theft. So if you're not uploading anything you didn't personally create you should be fine.

I'm worried about that, I have been doing fur and cosplay photography for awhile and I don't to step on people's feet. I'm scared of having people taking away the photos and saying it was theirs. I had someone do that when I did pictures of Alucard and Integra at Wasabi 2009, it was terrible and didn't feel the least bit good, I was even told by other photographers who were that it was happening to them too. I don't want to go through that again.

What made me feel horrible was I was trying to do a memorial for my cat, Kurtz, and so I released the video without sound and without music because the music that youtube suggested was too happy. Not to mention, I found it offensive to have RAP in the mixes they offered as fair use. That's discrimatino if you ask me, I'm not into rap or any of the stupid music that is considered popular. Why can't youtube offer J-Rock or J-pop that is fair use. I was so upset...Kurtz's memory was utterly ruined by what youtube had to offer.

JUST LOOK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMwL39bQKnQ

Its horrible and terrible, I'm ashamed....Kurtz's memory will be silent and HORRIBLE

Rippy, you could use some classical music from one of the great composers. Music like some Beethoven or Mozart or Tchaikovsky has been around for so long that it's public domain. Nobody owns the rights and therefore you can use it for anything without worrying about any repercussions.

Yeah, there are plenty of open domain artists that you could use.  What Youtube has that's open license is stuff that artists release to be used as open license, or have worked out a deal for.  The reason they offer music that is popular is...  Well, it's popular.  Logical step, they don't necessarily like the music, but they do like the fact that it can bring in money.

@_@ I have come to the conclusion that opalescent garden gnomes have absconded with my belongings.  I have cleaned, gone through my storage boxes, lit a fire and danced around a willow tree in my skivvies, and I am still missing several items.  Mainly: A ceremic kitty bank, two bento boxes, a jubako bento, Pretear and Saiyuki box sets, wall art, and a DiGi Charat wall clock.   ._.;;  ..And no, they couldn't have been stolen, because I live alone.  My best guess is that I left a box over at my mother's house in the process of moving.  ;w; However, I feel bad calling and asking, because my mother just had surgery, so I don't want to bother her.
"Hey mom! This is your daughter, the one with the memory of a goldfish with Alzheimer's.  I was wondering, I know you were just cut open, but could you check and see if I left a box of my stuff over there? I know it's been over 5 months since I moved out and I'm just NOW noticing I'm missing stuff, but I would appreciate it! DERP."
Buut aargh this is frustrating!

As another source of frustration.. does anyone know of a place that offers sewing lessons in Colorado Springs BESIDES Joann's?  Being that I don't drive, it's a bit hard to travel the 13 or so miles to get there.  ._.;  There is the bus, however that's a 58 minute (approximate) commute, and it would still require the usage of a cab, as the last stop is over two miles away from the store.

I've tried looking on Craigslist to no avail, Michael's doesn't deal with sewing, and as far as I know, Hobby Lobby doesn't offer classes.

I did use the Google Fu.  I pretty much got buptkis.  There's Rocky Mountain Sewing and Vacuum, which is a bit easier transit wise ( about 54 minutes, give or take) however there are no classes scheduled for the Colorado Springs store.  A couple stores that deal with quilting, and a few personal ads that I have no idea when they were posted.  Heck, one of them is from 2010 =_=;

um...Have you tried some of the lessons at Michaels or even Hobby Lobby....I know they gave sewing lessons at one time.

As for the videos, I'm just taking them off youtube and just making a DVD of them, I'm not about to let this stand, but I decided not to have sound for Kurtz's memorial because they don't have Japanese music that fits him. And plus, the music they offered was offensive and insensitive to my feelings. If they want to pursue anything, they can sue me over the name of the cat, Kurtz Weber is my cat's full name. I named him after Kurz from Fullmetal Panic!

Michael's doesn't really deal with sewing.  Though they have lots of other great lessons! ( Jewelry making, cake decorating, scrapbooking, painting, and knitting)  I'll check with Hobby Lobby again, but last I checked, they didn't give lessons on anything o3o ^_^ Would be great if they did though, considering there's a store in relative walking distance from my place. (or a quick bus ride)

The new downstairs carpet was installed today. I can't wait to get home and check it out. The wife says that all the animal/cigarette smells are gone.

Maybe now we can get my daughter moved into her room instead of sharing her brother's room.
