Whether you've attended one or eleven NDKs, most of us have one thing in common: a favorite NDK moment in which you can't wait to partake. It might be initially walking down the hotel hallway to your room/seeing your hotel room for the first time, meeting up with your friends, drinking coffee while watching cosplayers, eating that first stick of Pocky you purchased in the dealer's room, or waiting in the green room before the costume/cosplay contest. Whatever it might be, when it happens or you do it, you think, "I'm actually at the convention" or "I can't wait to do this again next year."
For me, there are a few:
Driving up to the hotel and trying to spot my first cosplayer. Last year, my first year attending NDK, it was James from Pokemon, walking up Syracuse St. on Saturday afternoon; this year, it was a Soul Reaper in the parking lot on Thursday evening.
Eating snacks from the dealer's room. Last year it was apple-flavored Hi-Chews; this year it was melon-flavored marshmallow and red bean paste-stuffed omochi rice cakes.
Walking through the atrium area. I love seeing all the wall scrolls and pictures hung on the balconies. And when I see them at the outset, I know it's going to be a great weekend.
