On August 24th, the anime universe lost one of its brightest stars when Satoshi Kon passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Kon, a longtime collaborator with our good friends at Madhouse, was just 46 years old when he died but he created an amazing body of work with films like Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers. He also left behind some moving last words for all to read; if you haven't read them, do yourself a favor and take the time to do so.
To honor Kon's memory, we're going to show a special screening of Paprika, Kon's final completed work. This screening will be in Main Events on Saturday at 9:00 AM. Please arrive early to be seated; we'll be starting the movie at 9:00 sharp. We're grateful to Sony Classics for making this possible on such short notice.
Finally, I wanted to also point out that we also have a panel called The Life and Works of Satoshi Kon on Saturday night, which will cover Kon's works and pay tribute to this fallen master of anime.
